When I saw the palm boxes that Andy had made a light bulb turned on in my head (and that takes some doin). There is a story (of course) that needs to be told as to why the light went off in my head. Ya see my wife takes her watch off and sits it on something somewhere in the house when she gets home from work. The next morning when she goes to work it is always “Have you seen my watch?” So when I saw the boxes that Andy had made, I thought “Oh a box for the watch”.
It is made from some Quarter Sawn White Oak that is left over from the clocks and frames that I make as well as a piece of walnut for the top. The front had some bark inclusion and a knot that to me looked like a flower and stem. I inlaid some gold glass with CA glue and then finished with spray lacquer. The lid fit is not near as good as I would have liked (as I am sure you can see) but didn’t have time to make another, and besides she really likes it. I lined the inside with stick on felt. You will notice some brass pins in the front corners of the box also. Shall we say this was a design modification (I am sure you can figure that one out!!) I also included a note to put inside the box that I thought you might enjoy and have included it below.
A Custom Crafted Watch Box for the Watch
A Box for your watch to watch your watch while your watch is not being a watch.
A place to place your watch when your watch is not on your wrist being a watch.
Your challenge now is to put the watch in the box for the watch when the watch is not being a watch on the wrist for the watch. And of course remembering that you put the watch in the box for the watch so you will know where the watch is when you need to put the watch on the wrist that’s for the watch…..
But then again you need to remember where you put the box for the watch with the watch that should be inside the box for the watch!!!!
Thanks as always for looking and thank you to Andy for the blog…..
